School was started by Mrs. Pritpal Singh in the year 1979. After working in Bishop Cotton School for 13 years and heading the Junior Section there, she left in 1977 and got started with Shimla Public School and worked solely for many years. It was because of her long hour of work and utmost dedication that SPS came to be recognized amongst the top few schools of Shimla.
Shimla Public School was a Nursery School in the initial years. With each session the eminence of the School became known to the people, the pressure from the parents increased and a new class was added each year. In 1986 the school got its Affiliation to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The first batch of I.C.S.E was in the year 1990.
Shimla Public School is my home, and it's my dream to make it a home for all the kids who come here. Our school is happy and I'm proud to say that we have a very good reputation. This, of course, is due to the concerted effort of the staff of the School and Hostel, to whom I would say, 'Well done and keep a good job up.'
The previous academic year easily passed the time halls, but not without having big pauses at the foundations of excellence. We have made great strides in academia, athletics, drama, robotics and other fields with God's blessings of abundant grace, the team spirit of the workers and modern technology.
Although keeping pace with modern technology, SPS has remained true to the spirit of education, and this is abundantly evident from the success of the students at the annual assessments of ISC, CBSE and School. Many of our students have excelled in many areas, while others have experienced a new sense of learning and have made tremendous progress at their own pace. More importantly, our students strive to be decent human beings. Pupils are taught at SPS how to better 'bring life to years'!
As Director of this organization, it is my pleasure to revolutionize every pupil's learning experience here!
